Recently I managed to acquire an almost mint condition Epiphone Les Paul Classic. Notice the two exposed Gibson-designed open-coil humbuckers, these have enamel-coated wire, are double vacuum wax-dipped and use alnico magnets.
The Mahogany body and 24-3/4″ scale length neck has all the traditional Les Paul features, including Chrome hardware ie; Tune-o-matic bridge and stop-bar tail, a super-fast 1960s slim-taper neck, trapezoid inlays in a Rosewood fretboard and vintage style tuners.
Going off the serial number it was made in July 1999 at the Unsung Plant, Korea with the Production Number: 0951 and as far as I can tell there was only a limited run of 2000 of these made.
It needed a bit of a clean up and I changed the rusty old pickup cover screws (which I still have, and will come with the guitar if you want to keep this guitar original) with some nice shiny new ones and I think has come up a treat.
There is some typical aging, minor scratches and some yellowing of the cream binding around the neck and body, but all in all this axe is in mighty fine form. I think the red transparent burst over the beautifully quilted carved maple top on this guitar looks a whole heap nicer than the current Epiphone Les Paul standards being sold at the moment.
