When I bought my 70s RI Mexican made Fender Strat it came with a three ply pick guard for a 62 Strat with Vintage Noiseless Stratocaster Pickups installed.
I must admit I really liked the sound of these pickups, but they just weren’t what I was wanting for this guitar.
Here’s a video of the pickups in action in my 70s Stratocaster, my good friend Bert is playing and the guitar is plugged into a Vox AC-15 with some effects through his Line6 pedal board.
The specs on the Fender.com Website say the following…
Single coil tone without the hum! Vintage Noiseless Strat® pickups produce the brilliant clarity, definition, and harmonic attributes of a vintage Strat in a noiseless package. These pickups feature special beveled edge Alnico V magnets and enamel-coated magnet wire. Pickups available in pre packaged set of 3 (with upgraded controls, caps, and resistors), or individually in white and black. Please see SKU descriptions for details.
On the Fender Australia website the description for these pickups is as follows…
Want Classic Strat tone without the hum? With Fender’s Noiseless technology, you can have just that! Made with staggered, beveled-edge Alnico 5 magnets, custom magnet wire and aged white covers embossed with a gold Noiseless logo, these pickups will make even the most cynical pickup aficionado sit up and take notice! Noiseless Strat pickups come with three 1-meg control pots, a .022mf capacitor and a 1 meg resistor. Experience crisp bell-like tones and crystal harmonics with the Noiseless Strat pickups! OEM on the American Deluxe Stratocaster®.
To be honest, I am not familiar with the technical jargon or how a .022mf capacitor, a 1 meg resistor and a 1-meg control pot effects the sound of these pickups, but I do know they sound good, really good and as the name implies they are noiseless. No hum whatsoever comes from these pups.
The Gold embossed covers look very retro and have a nice aged look with the cream color.
You can really see how much beveling has been done on the pole pieces in this next pic. The pole pieces on the neck position pickup almost look rounded.
The wiring is plastic coated, not cloth like you would find on true Vintage style pickups.
As I previously mentioned, these pickups sound great, but they are probably more suited for a 50s Strat rather than a 70s Strat. They are super clean and have that real bell tone you would expect from a 50s Strat.
If your looking for a clean vintage 50s sound for your Strat then grab yourself a bargain from eBay, there’s heaps of great deals like these ones below…
