Here is a slightly modified 2006 Epiphone Les Paul Custom, finished in Ebony and with gold hardware, which, according to the www.guitardaterproject.org website, was made in China at Epiphones Qingdao Plant during June of 2006 with a production number of 1012.

This particular guitar has been upgraded with Seymour Duncan pickups, including an Invader pickup in the bridge position, which is an ultra high output humbucker designed for aggressive playing styles., such as punk, garage, thrash, and metal. And a Pearly Gates pickup in the neck position, which is a warm, slightly hotter than vintage humbucker for blues, classic rock, southern rock, and hard rock.
Both are really loud, not sure what the output is but, compared to any one of my Strats, these things blow em all away.

The pickups can also be split into single coils using the push pull switch on the bridge pickups tone pot. Splitting the Humbuckers allows you to get an even greater range of tones and sounds out of this guitar which really improve this guitars versatility and all round potential.

The gold Grover tuners which have also aged nicely, have a 16:1 ratio and are great for keeping this guitar in tune for ages. The serial number is stamped onto the back of the headstock and is also in gold.

There is multiple binding around the body in cream and along with the rest of the hardware, the 3-way pickup selector switch is also in gold.

The arched body is made from carved, solid mahogany without the maple cap, which is supposed to give it a slightly mellower tone, I found with the Seymore Duncans installed, the tone is quite bright, almost harsh sounding when the tone pots are fully open. To take some of the bite out, a slight adjustment in the tone pots is all that’s needed for a really sweet bluesy tone.

The set neck is made from solid mahogany and because it’s a hand fitted glued in joint, like most Les Paul’s, is designed for optimum neck to body contact, acting like one continuous piece of wood providing an overall increase in sustain and resonance.
